Workers Compensation
Employers in Pennsylvania as in other states are required by law to insure their legal obligations under the Workers Compensation Act. Failure to comply can result in serious and costly penalties.
Very generally,
Workers Compensation policies:
- Provide medical benefits incurred as a result of work-related injuries or occupational diseases as well as associated wage loss
- Protect employers from tort liability for lawsuits arising out of work-related injuries and diseases, and
- Protect the employer and agents acting on its behalf from criminal prosecution as a result of noncompliance
Workers Compensation policies provide statutory coverage, but not all companies provide the same level of service, expertise and management of policies and claims. While we represent a number of carriers that provide Workers Compensation as part of an overall package, we also have direct access to a number of markets that specialize solely in Workers Compensation and provide stand alone coverage.
Policies are issued and renewed using estimated payrolls. Therefore, annual audits are expected to be performed every year and any difference in actual payroll is calculated and billed at the conclusion of each policy term.
